Gerry Messmer | Owner

I have been involved in Rendezvous, Historical Re-enactment, Competitive Shooting, and organized muzzleloading for over forty five years now. I am an enthusiastic supporter of our 2nd Amendment rights and enjoy membership privileges in the National Rifle Association. In addition, I am a Hiveranno (#2046) with the American Mountain Men. My wife, Cathy has joined me along with the kids in both Rev War and Fur Trade Era living history and re-enacting.

In 2019, along with 2 friends, I completed the 2000 mile journey that William Henry Ashley made from the first formal fur trade rendezvous of 1825 near Flaming Gorge, WY to St. Louis.  We did 700 miles on horseback, 400 in bull boat and pirogue and 900 by keelboat down the Missouri River.

In addition to that, Cathy owns her own professional embroidery business, Curlystitch Embroidery that can also be of service to you. We are avid outdoor folks who love to hunt, fish, trap and camp in general and I spend a fair amount of time doing genealogy. We are proud to mention that we are Christian people and try to conduct our personal lives and our business dealings according to these beliefs.

I am now retired from the United States Army after over 31 years of service, to include combat tours in both Iraq and Afghanistan. I run Powderhorns and More as full time as I can while trying to enjoy life! I purchased the business in October of 2014 and after training under the intense tutelage of John Shorb, moved the business to Texas and have now settled it in Odessa, New York.

We are committed to doing our best to maintain the quality and customer service you deserve. Additionally, we have had a lot of requests for an expanded product line and will do so to meet very specific and niche needs in the hobby.
